CéU

by Mosun Agnini

Everyone remembers the first concert they ever went to see.   It is one of those moments that builds each day until the event.   It is also the first mark of independence.   It isn't a trip to the mall or the arcade.   You are actually allowed to go on your own to an event where hundreds of people are gathered together to party.   Each day you put on your favorite song until you have been listening to the same music a thousand times a day. Eventually, it is so solid in your life you will be taken back to that moment every time you hear even one note at any given time in the future.

Now the music may or may not have been good but it was yours and you could feel it in your soul.   By standing in the same room and sharing that feeling with the people performing it makes it that much better.   Everyone has that moment and it forms the basis for a lifetime of music devotion.   Whatever genre you enjoy there is a common bond among all music lovers because of the place it takes you.

If Brazil is that place and hip-hop beats with steamy vocals speaks to your soul then there is a show coming up that you will want to experience.   The sound of CéU (say you) brings together samba, soul, electro-jazz and R & B to create a unique and sexy environment for her sophisticated voice.   One that she calls malêmolencia.

Her first album launching late summer in the UK brought together a group of very talented performers from around the world with varying backgrounds that mesh beautifully.   The result includes funk, jazz, hip-hop, body percussion, classical and incorporates a knocked out DJ.

The music of CéU is a stunning multi-layered sound highlighted by the voice of singer-songwriter CéU.   Her goal is to put a little happiness into life with rhythm, soul, a relaxed attitude and most importantly, malêmolencia.   For two nights she will share this with the Twin Cities.
