Alexander Calder "Spider"

The Surreal Calder

June 11- September 10

The work of Alexander Calder is shown in relationship to the art of the time in this MIA exhibit.   Calder, known for his elegant and whimsical mobile constructions, worked at the time of the surrealists.   This exhibition explores the relationship of Calder and his contemporaries of the Surrealist movement.   Calder's work is featured along with works by Ernst, Magritte, Miro, and Tanguy.   As an added bonus, this is the first show in the new Target gallery, so it's a great chance to get out and see this new addition to the museum, a work of art in its own right.
