Spring is almost here! Opulence, luster and glamour have given way to a more natural, laid-back look that is embodied by linens, cottons and handcrafted-looking detail.

Russian Doll: Embellishment takes a folksy turn for Spring. Look for anything with folk inspired motifs that incorporate traditional embroidery techniques.

Pirate chic: Nautical gets funky. Combine stripes ( simple or multicolored), boat-neck blouses with gold trims and white 60's sailor pants . If trousers aren't your style, take the tomboy edge off with a denim mini skirt . Think contemporary French sailor gal.

Modern Military: Set in tones of beige and olive, the military look is softer than in past seasons. Subtle details (metallic trims, beading or sequins) add an elegant twist to this season's utilitarian chic, allowing for pretty practicality.

White Maiden: Unstructured and loose white nightgown-style dresses will be floating around this Spring. Worn with a cropped cardigan and a silk headscarf this dreamy look is fresh and comfortable.

Graphic Prints: If you don't like the ethereal look grab a kaftan, wide belt (looped high), some gold hoop earrings and some chunky platform heels. Not quite boho, not quite retro, this look mixes African, safari and jungle themes.

Reptile Skin: Reptile bags, footwear and accessories will be slithering into wardrobes this Spring. Invest in snakeskin (particularly python) and crocodile skin (either real or in embossed leather).

Tailored Shorts: Show off a little leg with some high-waist, short-shorts. Good structure and intricate detailing are the keys to this playful look so look for a pair with interesting buttons and pockets galore.

TREND ALERT!

Ankle lace-ups: Laces may be of leather, ribbons, and rope, among others. You'll find them in casual sandals, espadrilles, funky wedges and even high heels for evening. This romantic, feminine style is flattering and sexy.
