We have officially begun the metamorphosis from relaxed, lazy fall days to the rush of the holiday months. Every year we get caught up in the madness of the season’s obligations and forget to take time for ourselves. It is important in these times to take a night out of your week, get out of the madness and into an evening with friends and unwind.

The Caterpillar Lounge, with access through Asia Restaurant and Bar, on 25th Street and Nicollet is a small and relaxing lounge perfect for this purpose. Azia is the parent restaurant and with awards such as top 50 restaurants in the nation by Bon Appetite magazine, The Caterpillar Lounge comes from good genes. The area is easy to access from any side of Minneapolis whether you are Uptown or Downtown and parking is almost always available within one block. Surrounded by many other great restaurants and bars this corner of eat street is quickly becoming a favorite stop for drinkers and diners of all kinds.

Monday is movie night! Get a seat early for an evening of great cocktails and cinema. Appetizers and desserts are available from the adjacent Azia Restaurant if you want a little snack or a light dinner. Then sit back and enjoy the show.

Tuesday through Sunday liven up a bit when local dj’s come in and play the latest cosmopolitan tracks. Drinks can be non-alcoholic including an incredible selection of organic and specialty teas such as the Azian Elixir and Pearls of Wisdom. The cocktail list includes all the basics and the bartenders are sure to be able to bring you one of your favorites. It is worth it, however, to take your chances with one of the house specialty cocktails. Drinks such as the Blackberry Mojito, the Blue Fin Martini and the Argentina Tango are most popular and just might become one of your new favorites. There was a time before Cosmopolitans were on every cocktail list. Maybe you will even discover the next international crowd pleaser.

Caterpillar lounge is a perfect place for that urban retreat at any time of the evening but if you really want some privacy it is a great place to consider having a party. The Caterpillar Lounge is available for private parties every night of the week. Show a movie, have a dj and serve great snacks as you celebrate the holiday season. The best part is that you don’t have to do the clean up.
